윈도우용 .NET Core 3 이상에서 Windbg의 sos 사용법

윈도우 환경에서 .NET Core 응용 프로그램의 덤프를 분석할 때 무심코 ".loadby sos clr"로 하게 되면 SOS.dll이 로드가 되긴 합니다.

단지, 보는 바와 같이 .NET Framework의 sos를 로드하기 때문에 이후 clrstack이나 threads 등의 명령어를 수행해도 정상적으로 출력이 나오지 않습니다.

WinDbg Preview 버전의 경우에는 자동으로 .NET Core용 DLL을 로드한다고 설명한 적이 있습니다. 아쉽게도 서버 운영체제의 경우에는 Store App에서 다운로드할 수 없어 다른 방법을 찾아야 합니다.

따라서 dotnet-sos 도구를 설치하고,

C:\Windows\System32> dotnet tool install -g dotnet-sos
You can invoke the tool using the following command: dotnet-sos
Tool 'dotnet-sos' (version '5.0.221401') was successfully installed.

이를 이용해 sos.dll을 구할 수 있습니다.

// 사용자 계정이 testusr라고 가정

c:\temp> "%USERPROFILE%\.dotnet\tools\dotnet-sos" install

게다가 출력 결과에서도 친절하게 저 명령어를 수행하면 된다고 합니다.

따라서, 이것을 windbg 명령으로 그대로 실행하면 .NET Core용 sos.dll이 로드가 됩니다.

참고로, dotnet-sos 실행 시 다음과 같은 오류 메시지가 나온다면?

C:\Windows\system32> dotnet tool install -g dotnet-sos
No executable found matching command "dotnet-tool"

이는 .NET Core 2.1.300 이상의 (런타임이 아닌) SDK가 설치된 적이 없기 때문입니다.

C:\temp> dotnet --list-sdks
2.1.3 [C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk]

따라서, 대충 높은 버전의 .NET Core SDK를 설치한 다음,

.NET Core 3.1 SDK (v3.1.409) - Windows x64 Installer!
; https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download

C:\Windows\System32> dotnet --list-sdks
2.1.3 [C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk]
3.1.409 [C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk]

다시 설치를 진행하면 정상적으로 실행이 됩니다.
