I just don't know, but just today i was involved in a discussion about prefer "something
better" to SQL Server200(5) and, for many reason, i couldn't express
exatcly my pont of view, even because I just haven't some proof in my pocket to show
and also because I'm not a dba.
Just looking some case study, and also minding the fact that every people think his
problem is the most difficult in the world, I found something interesting:
Nasdaq uses
SqlServer 2005 to suppress some 'vintage' mainframe in real time stock excange trading
and querying.
Townsend
Analytics , a trading service provider company uses SQL Server 2005 to manage
a 1 terabyte database with about 90 million tracked quotes change per day, with a
peak load of 60000 quotes changes per second.
And here a
lot
of other case study, just too boring to read all, and enought to have a something
to reply next time...
