Surprise, Microsoft Listed as Most Secure OS

가만 보니, Vista 얘기가 아닙니다. 지난 2006년의 후반 6개월이 평가 기간이었으니, Vista가 아닌 Windows XP 또는 2003이 그 대상이었을 것입니다.
마이크로소프트의 "보안"에 대한 강력한 의지가 어떤 결실을 보았는지에 대한 좋은 예일 것 같습니다.
또한 이 자료가 마이크로소프트에 그다지 우호적이지 않은 Symantec으로부터 나온 것이기에 더욱 의미가 있는 것 같습니다.
그리고 마지막 부분에 언급된 비스타에 대한 글이 더욱 결정적인 것 같습니다. 위와 같은 좋은 평가를 받은 윈도우 운영체제에 비해서 Vista가 좀 더 우수한 보안 시스템이라는 것을 말하고 있습니다. 이제 더 이상 마이크로소프트의 제품들이 보안에 취약하다는 말은 함부로 해서는 안될 것 같습니다.

목차에서 "Vulnerability Trends"를 누르고 조금 아래 부분에 내려가면 "Symantec Internet Security Threat Report" 절에 다음과 같은 평가를 볼 수 있습니다.

Microsoft Windows had the shortest average patch development time of the five operating systems in the
last six months of 2006. During this period, Windows had an average patch development time of 21 days
based on a sample set of 39 patched vulnerabilities (figure 13). This represents an increase over the first
six months of 2006, when Windows had an average patch development time of 13 days based on a sample
set of 22 vulnerabilities.

이외에도 재미있는 보고 내용들이 좀 있습니다. Internet Explorer는 Mozilla에 비해 보안이 다소 취약한 것으로 나와서 좀 아쉬운 면이 있지만. 이제 IE 7이 나오고 Vista의 보안 정책에 힘입어 나아질 거라 보고.
특이한 것은 SQL Server 2005에 대한 보안 평가입니다. 이에 대해 다음과 같이 말하고 있습니다.

예전에... 마이크로소프트의 보안 취약에 대해 옹호할 수 있는 최대한의 발언이란...? - 가장 대중적으로 사용되는 컴퓨터이기 때문에 상대적으로 가장 많은 공격자를 가지고 있기 때문이다. - 라고만 말할 수 있었습니다. 하지만 이제는... 그런 말도 필요 없게 되었습니다. ^^
