Visual C++ 컴파일 오류 - fatal error C1090: PDB API call failed, error code '3'

다음과 같은 빌드 오류가 발생한다면?

1>C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Include\10.0.18362.0\um\oledb.h(647): message : C:\Dropbox\dso_framer_2019_build\MS_DSOFramer_OpenSource_V2.2.1.2\dsofauto.cpp : fatal error C1090: PDB API call failed, error code '3': C:\Dropbox\\dso_framer_2019_build\MS_DSOFramer_OpenSource_V2.2.1.2\Debug\vc142.pdb
1>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\Enterprise\MSBuild\Microsoft\VC\v160\Microsoft.CppCommon.targets(429,5): error MSB6006: "CL.exe" exited with code 1.
1>Done building project "dsoframer.vcxproj" -- FAILED.

제 경우에, dropbox로 연결된 디렉터리에서 제법 규모 있는 프로젝트를 빌드했을 때 저런 식으로 pdb 오류가 발생했습니다. 동일한 프로젝트를 (동기화하느라 바쁜) dropbox가 관리하지 않는 폴더에 복사해 빌드하면 오류가 발생하지 않습니다.
