얼마 전부터 테스트 머신으로 둔 "Ubuntu 23.04"에서 24.04로 업그레이드하라는 메시지를 무시하고 있었는데요, 그러다 어느 순간부터는 아예 패키지를 새로 설치하는 과정이 실패까지 해 버립니다.
메시지를 보면, 패키지 저장소(repository) 자체가 아예 없어진 듯한데요,

실제로 웹 브라우저를 이용해 "
https://kr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/" 경로를 방문해 보면 하위에 "lunar" 디렉터리가 없습니다. focal(20.04)이나 bionic(18.04)같은 예전 버전도 있는데 유독 23.04 버전의 lunar만 없어진 게 좀 이상한데요, 검색해 보면 단순히 "End-of-Life" 상태라고 합니다.
그런데 문제가 하나 더 있는데요, Ubuntu 측에서 23.04에 대해서는 24.04로의 버전 업데이트도 현재는 막았다는 점입니다.
$ sudo do-release-upgrade -p '24.04.1 LTS'

딱히 다른 방법이 있는 것인지는 알 수 없으나, 암튼 쉽게 찾을 수는 없었습니다. (혹시 방법을 아시는 분은 덧글 부탁드립니다. ^^)
자, 그렇다면 패키지 저장소가 없어져 신규 프로그램을 설치할 수 없는 상황이 되었는데요, 다행히 검색해 보면 방법이 나옵니다. ^^

그러니까, 예전 패키지 저장소를 가지고 있는
별도의 서버를 제공해 주고 있었는데요, 따라서 sources.list 파일의 내용을 "http://kr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu"에서 "
https://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu"로 변경하면 되는 것입니다.
